The best new wearables we could find at CES 2020

Artificial humans and toilet paper robots arent the only cool things to launch at CES 2020 a lot of great new smartwatches made their debut, too. We saw smartwatches with ECG monitors, built-in trail maps, and a surprising amount of features for low price tags. Oh, I also found a certain smartwatch that Im completely obsessed with. Read on to see the best new wearables at CES 2020.

Withings ScanWatch: Honest-to-goodness sleep apnea detection

Withings impressed us last CES with the Move and Move ECG two hybrid smartwatches with quirky, fun designs. At CES 2020, Withings is going classy again with the ScanWatch.

The Withings ScanWatch is much more than a style upgrade, though. It has a built-in ECG that lets you take on-demand electrocardiograms, as well as an SpO2 sensor that measures your oxygen saturation levels overnight. Withings expects the ScanWatch to receive FDA and CE clearance soon, which is a big deal. When that happens, the ScanWatch will be the only medically certified hybrid smartwatch that can show early warning signs of sleep apnea and arrhythmia (AFib).

Suunto 7: Wear OS for serious athletes

We havent seen a true Wear OS watch for athletes since 2016s Polar M600. Now, Suunto is throwing its hat into the ring with the Suunto 7. Its big, packed with great fitness features, and isnt overly expensive.

The Suunto 7 has a built-in GPS, heart rate sensor, and support for offline maps (thats a big deal for hikers, bikers, and trail runners). This is a Suunto device, after all, so it also supports Suunto Heatmaps, frequently traveled paths by Suunto users, across 15 activities.

Battery life isnt bad, either. Suunto says the 7 will last 12 hours in GPS mode or 48 hours with normal use. Thats pretty good for a Wear OS smartwatch.

You can work out with the Suunto 7 this January for $499.

The Skagen Falster lineup has some of the prettiest Wear OS smartwatches, but theyre never the most powerful or longest lasting. That changes with the Skagen Falster 3. Skagen included the latest and greatest internals in its new watch: Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 SoC and 1GB of RAM (thats a lot for Wear OS). This should allow for a smooth, long-lasting performance. Skagen also threw in 8GB of music and app storage for good measure.

The company is also partnering with KYGO, the popular Norwegian DJ, for the release of the watch. All models come with an exclusive KYGO watch face, and theres even an X by KYGO edition of the watch.

Youll be able to buy the Skagen Falster 3 this January for $295.

Diesel Fadelite: The hottest watch at CES

The Diesel Fadelite isnt the most powerful smartwatch (even by Wear OS standards), but it has one of the coolest colorways Ive seen in some time. I am obsessed with this design. All four models clear, blue, black, and red are translucent, and theyre all light and comfortable to wear.

Diesel made it a point to slim down the Fadelite compared to the bulkier Axial, which was really only marketed to men. After trying it on, I could see how itd look good on most peoples wrists.

New Fossil smartwatches: Gen 5, Hybrid HR, Sport

Alongside the new Skagen Falster 3 and Diesel Fadelite, the company launched a new Fossil Gen 5 Garrett model, new Gen 5 Julianna colors, Fossil Sport Jelly styles, Hybrid HR Dive styles, and two new Hybrid HR Charter colors. Yeah, Fossil has had a busy CES.

The company also announced that its bringing the Fossil Gen 5s wonderful custom battery modes to all its 3100-powered smartwatches this week.

Huami is in the business of making low-cost wearables, and its latest device is big, rugged, and cheap. The Amazfit T-Rex is a durable smartwatch with a MIL-STD-810G rating,5ATM water resistance, a built-in GPS,heart rate sensor,Bluetooth 5.0, and a battery that Huami says will last 20 days on a single charge.

Huami seemed to have cut corners on the design, but thats due to the low price point. The Amazfit T-Rex is launching for just $139.90 a decent price for what youre getting here.

Huami Amazfit Bip S: A basic smartwatch that costs less than youd expect

Huami makes good low-cost wearables, and it cemented its place in the market with the Amazfit Bip from 2018. Now, the company is back with an even lower-cost smartwatch that actually comes with some nice upgrades. The Huami Amazfit Bip S has a 5ATM water resistance rating, a battery that can last a very impressive 40 days, and a transflective display thats great to read in direct sunlight.

Youre getting a surprising amount with the Bip S for just $70. Thats why this was a no-brainer to include on our list of best new wearables.

Coolpad Dyno 2: A solid kids smartwatch, now even better

Coolpad Dyno 2 family

Coolpad didnt just unveil a super cheap 5G phone at CES, the company also announced a refresh to its popular smartwatch for kids, the Coolpad Dyno.

The Coolpad Dyno 2 comes with 4G LTE connectivity, location tracking, safe zones, and voice and text messaging. This time around, it also has an upgraded chipset with allows for smoother performance and better battery life.

The Dyno 2 arrives in April 2020 for $190.
