BIG HAT DAYS IN CLOVIS
This weekend is the 85th annual BIG Hat Days event in Clovis! Big Hat Days is the biggest two-day festival in Central California. It is a Clovis Chamber Event that attracts over 140,000 visitors to Old Town to enjoy hundreds of craft and food booths.
15 Square Blocks with 350 vendors, 57 food vendors and 6 live bands!
85 Years! The first “Big Hat Days” was in 1938. Back then Clovis had a population of just 1,600. The average wage was around $1,730 a year. A loaf of bread would cost you about 9 cents! How about a home you say? Can you imagine a home costing a whopping $3,900? Yup! Gas was around 10 cents a gallon, and since we’re all going to be wearing our Stetsons – a quality Stetson back in 1938 would be less than $10!
Big Hat Days is located on Pollasky Ave, one block west of Clovis Avenue, in Old Town Clovis between Third and Ninth Streets.
