Pokémon GO’s Season of Mythical Wishes’ Winter Holiday Part 1 event guide

The holiday season is upon us in Pokémon GO, which means it’s time for winter-themed Pokémon and Costumed Pokémon to appear. Just like this year’s Halloween event, this Winter Holiday will be split into two parts. For Winter Holiday Part 1, Mega Glalie joins the game, along with Shiny Bergmite. Trainers can also find some Costumed Pokémon from previous winter holiday events (specifically 2019, 2020, and 2021).

Also, in what appears to be a new trend, certain content will be locked behind a paywall (just like in the Mythic Blade event). This time, a Winter Holiday-themed Timed Research will be available if Trainers pay US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency). This Timed Research can also be gifted to other Trainers, provided that US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency) is paid. Details for this can be found at the bottom of our guide.

To kick things off, we’ll cover the freebie portion of the Winter Holiday Part 1 event first in our guide below:

Pokémon GO’s Season of Mythical Wishes – Winter Holiday Part 1

Begins: Thursday, December 15th, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Ends: Friday, December 23rd, 2022 at 10 a.m. your local time.

Pokémon debuts – Mega Glalie, Shiny Bergmite, and return of Costumed Pokémon

Another Mega Evolved Pokémon joins the Pokédex in Pokémon GO! This time it’s Mega Glalie. You’ll be able to acquire the transformation (and Mega Glalie Energy) when defeating Mega Glalie in Mega Raids until Sunday, January 1st, 2023 at 10 a.m. your local time.

When it comes to Shiny Pokémon hunting, Bergmite will be the Pokémon to look for during this event. Its Shiny debut couldn’t have come at a greater time, as its Hisuian Avalugg form will debut later this month during Hisuian Avalugg Raid Day (Saturday, December 24th, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. your local time). Fingers crossed that Shiny Hisuian Avalugg will be a possibility in Raids and/or Niantic will allow Trainers to evolve their Bergmite into one after completing a Raid.

Plus, since this is the Winter Holiday Part 1 event, a variety of Costumed Pokémon return. Trainers will spot Pikachu wearing a Winter Carnival outfit (from Holiday 2020), Spheal wearing a holiday outfit (from Holiday 2021), Stantler wearing a holiday outfit (from Holiday 2019, 2020, and 2021), and Glaceon wearing an Undersea Holiday outfit (from Holiday 2021). Going forward, these Pokémon will be referred to as “Costumed” rather than the exact outfit they are wearing.
