Sew Reporter – 10th of May

Hi team, we hope you had a good week! Are you ready for your weekly dose of sewspiration?

It was kids week on the Sewing Bee this week and we have gathered a selection of sewing patterns from independent designers and commercial pattern houses inspired by the show, so you might just find that pattern you were eyeing up!

We’re back with another instalment of Find My Sewing Pattern! We have received lots of emails from you all with images of ready to wear clothes that you need in your life, so Kate put her detective hat on and hunted down some spectacular dressmaking patterns.

Are you watching the Great British Sewing Bee series 6? We have searched high and low to bring you the best selection of sewing patterns from independent designers and commercial pattern houses that featured in this weeks episode, so you can re-create your favourite ‘Bee’ look at home! For the nr. 1 fans: check out our ultimate guide to the Sewing Bee page. We’ve got loads of exciting Sewing Bee goodness including a review of the book that accompanies the series!

Kate aka Kate Eva combined a few different patterns together and added shirring to her straps to create this WONDERFUL red dress of dreams! Check out her blog to see how she made the shirred straps.

Karen and Ella from Did You Make That? are both looking top notch. Karen made her Deer & Doe Myosotis in small chunks of time and the result is absolutely beautiful!

This Sienna Maker Jacket from Closet Case Patterns is extra special because Heather Lou added a shearling lining and a quilted back yoke. Isn’t it fab!

Fiona aka Dairy Of A Chainstitcher sewed the By Hand London Hannah Dress (yes, the one with THOSE sleeves!) and turned it into a top. #NailedIt!

We believe that this is what pattern and fabric matching heaven looks like Abi aka What Abi Makes! Abi made the new Deer & Doe Passiflore shirt dress and it’s perfection.

Emily from Self Assembly Required used the Grasser Dress 481 pattern to create the ultimate red summer dress and we love it!

Zoe from So, Zo… What Do You Know? isn’t sure if she made a jacket or a cardigan? Or a Jacket-igan? But either way, this La Trop Facile pattern by Delphine et Morissette is a WINNER!

Yes, Meg from Cookin’ & Craftin’ let the summer dress season commence! This gorgeous dress is the Seamwork Lyle dress and it’s an easy to make comfy dress for hot summer days.

Cristy from Love You Sew shared some thoughts about her Aida top from Sew Liberated on her blog. We love the look of this and that fabric is lush!

Never have we seen a Seamwork Moneta dress look this chic! Giorgia from One Stitch Forward hacked her version to a maxi length dress with grown on sleeves. Head over to her blog for a tutorial!

Well, hello statement sleeves of the year! Victoria @victorialucilleanne made the Thea Boho Sleeve Shirt by Liberty patterns and we’re obsessed!

Laura from @bobbinsblog jumped on the Paper Theory Patterns Zadie Jumpsuit train and wished she had done it sooner! Check all the details and her pattern review here.

Here are the latest new sewing pattern releases from independent designers in the sewing community. We are passionate about championing indie designers in the sewing community and we are always looking for new sewing pattern designers we can feature. With over 200 designers from around the world creating patterns for us to sew with, there is a lot of choice. If you need some help finding your next sewing project search for more ideas using our sewing-specific search tool.

We love nothing more that sitting down at the end of the day and watching sewing blogs, it’s always fun to see what patterns other makers have been sewing up or what they’ve bought in their fabric hauls! Each week we share sewing videos from the sewing community where you can pick up tips, sewing advice and catch up on the latest high street and fashion trends. You’ll also be able to see what other makers in the community have been up to.

A million heart eyes for the latest designs from Atelier Brunette! These colours are amazing. You can shop the collection over at Lamazi Fabrics

We are loving this super fun ‘Prosecco Fizz’ cotton lawn from Cloth & Candy! It looks like those colourful spots are hand painted on and it kind of gives the print a 3D effect.

We spotted a new colour way of one of our favourite Nani Iro prints over at The Draper's Daughter. The flowers of the ‘Lei Nani’ print really pop against the black background!

One of our favourite Sew Hayley Jane sewing boxes was February’s box, which was filled to the brim with good stuff! But, who are we kidding… We have loved them all! Sign up now and you can save 10% by using the discount code FOLDLINE10.

Hoorah! NEW Pink Coat Club labels! We can definitely use some of the ‘contains pet hair’ labels ourselves at the moment.

This floral cotton lawn from Cloth Spot is very.hard.to.resist! Those bright colourful flowers on the black background are perfection.

You know we love a good spotty fabric and these cotton poplins with huge spots from Lulou Designs are making our hearts very happy!

Oh my! We NEED this fabric, a gorgeous outfit, a beach (or park) and a cocktail in our hands… This print from Sew Me Sunshine is lush and we need it to make our summer dreams come true!

It’s gingham galore over at Fabrics Galore! They have the most summery colours in at the moment, but this minty green one is our favourite!

This adorable top and trouser set from Simplicity - 9121 would make the perfect matching lounge set for you and your little one. Twinning is winning!

We keep a handy list of sewing events, exhibitions and meet ups happening in the sewing community all over the world on our sewing social calendar here.
