Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and some of his teammates made a social justice statement before Game 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers, wearing a MAGA-themed hat with a message about Breonna Taylor.
- The hat — which takes the MAGA theme — reads: “Make America
Great Againarrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor.” - James wore a shirt that read: “By Any Means.”
- James captioned his Instagram post: “By Any Means‼️ Lets Get It #JusticeForBreonnaTaylor❤️✊ .”
Why the hat matters
- James’ hat was meant to honor Taylor, who was a 26-year-old EMT who was killed in her own home after police entered, USA Today reports. Police said they started shooting after an officer was shot and injured. Police were reportedly not looking for Taylor or Kenneth Walker, who was Taylor’s boyfriend. No drugs were found.
